I will be away for the next few weeks, so some updates, like the newsletter, which normally manages to squeeze in before month end, will be a bit late in appearing here on the web.  Maybe I will have a trip report in a month or three after the trip...no promises though :-)

Thanks to all who took part in the 60th Convoy Drive on Monday 28 April from Durban to Baynesfield. The event sticker on your vehicles should be worn with pride in that you participated in an unique event to celebrate 60th Years of Land Rover amongst other enthusiasts. Final count at Baynesfield was 95 Land Rovers on a cold and wet day. The front the convoy was a sight to see stretching back over the hills. Imagine the numbers if the day had been hot and sunny.

10 Series 1 Land Rovers with the oldest a 1950 80" Series 1 and the convoy included at least one of all the models except the 101. The Forward Control and the Light Weight were the only models with single vehicles, the rest were well supported.  Some pictures can be viewed here.

What other vehicle brand can bring out a bunch of enthusiasts like Land Rover ?
The Best 4x4x60.

Organised by the Land Rover Owners Club KZN on behalf of all the Land Rover Enthusiasts.

Thanks, George Goswell

If you have an ORIGINAL SERIES Land Rover in good condition or know of someone who has one please give George Goswell a call. The LROC is currently looking for  Land Rovers  for a Special Exhibit at Cars In The Park in PMB in May next year.

The plan is to have a display that reflects the various models spanning 60 years.

From the Series 1 80”, Series 11/a, Series 111/s, early Defender (sliding window) up to the latest. Also included will be the Light  Weight, Forward Control, Range Rover, Disco etc.

The vehicles must be in a good presentable condition.

The KwaZulu-Natal Club started as a branch of the Land Rover Owner's Club of Southern Africa in 1989, but became a separate entity in March 1996.  The club is a member of the Association Of All Wheel Drive Clubs, Southern Africa (AWDC SA)

The Club's objectives are to :

  • bring together the owners of Land Rover manufactured vehicles
  • organise functions for members (see 'Club Diary')
  • encourage members in advancing their knowledge, skills, use and maintenance of their Land Rovers;
  • promote facilities for members to have access to spare parts and technical know-how;
  • encourage  restoration and maintenance of Land Rovers;
  • provide facilities for driver improvement and vehicle knowledge;
  • arrange venues for off-roading;
  • promote conservation and the love of the outdoors;
  • promote relationships with clubs having similar objectives.
